A History of Excellence in Trust Fund Management
The Irrevocable Spendthrift Trust started in the early 1950s when Harvard law student, Robert N. Benson, was mentored and taught by the renowned Professor Austin Wakeman Scott, author of "Scott on Trust Law."
Mr. Scott’s work remains a cornerstone of trust law education in leading law schools and is widely recognized as the definitive source in the United States. After his graduation, Mr. Benson became a partner at a prominent Wall Street law firm, specializing in estate planning and asset protection through Spendthrift Trusts for high-net-worth individuals.
In the late 1950s, he expanded his practice to Texas, where he ventured into the realms of bankruptcy, trust, and copyright law. It was here that he developed a groundbreaking trust model designed to offer an estate planning solution and asset protection not just to the affluent but to a broader segment of society.
